    In 2013, Josh Stiles started Shamma Sandals. Call it naive, but at the time Josh had no idea how big his challenge was. The idea was dead simple: to make minimalist running sandals. This idea hasn't changed since 2013, but the execution has.

    For Shamma Sandals, running is the norm for human movement. This requires speed, agility and coordination. All barefoot sandals by Shamma Sandals are therefore specifically designed for this purpose. However, they are used for all kinds of purposes. From 5K to marathon, on the street or in the woods or mountains. But others use them for obstacle races, mountain climbing as a minimalist hiking sandal or just as an everyday 'shoe'.

    Josh created a family business and all Shamma Sandals are still handmade and sewn from their small workshop in Santa Cruz, California.

    Elite Lacing System

    Shamma Sandals have many features of other minimalist running sandals such as the wide fit and thin flexible Vibram sole (thickness depends on model). But they distinguish themselves from all other brands by one important point (which is often difficult with other sandals): the Elite Lacing System.

    The Elite Lacing System is adjustable in 3 places. This allows you to easily adjust the sandal to your specific foot shape. And do you want to give the sandals an extra fix? Then simply use the optional powerstraps. Why this system is better, we'll let Josh tell you:
