Because barefoot shoes require your foot muscles to work harder, blood circulation in your feet is much better. As a result, some people will have warmer feet than when wearing traditional shoes.
On the other hand, the sole of a barefoot shoe is obviously much thinner. This naturally has an impact in colder conditions.
Solutions for cold feet
Barefoot winter shoes: there are also specific winter versions of barefoot shoes. These are generally shoes with a wool, felt or flannel lining. This lining keeps your feet nice and warm. Please note: this lining often affects the size of your shoes!
Of course, it is not always necessary to wear proper winter boots. There are also lots of (mid-calf) models that you can wear in winter with thicker socks and continue to wear in spring or autumn.
You can also simply replace the insoles of your summer shoes with warm insoles.
Finally, you can also simply combine the above solutions.
Barefoot winter shoes
The barefoot shoes you find on this page are all suitable for winter. These shoes meet the following characteristics:
Wool, felt or synthetic lining
Waterproof or water-repellent
And/or thermal or lined insole. Some shoes with a thermal insole are suitable for year-round wear. In winter, you wear them with the thermal insole, and when it gets warmer, you simply remove it.
